I have learned that life is like a book and it has many chapters and this chapter of my life has come to an end. Sharing this blog of creative ideas has been very personally rewarding. I have learned so much, not only about crafts but also about photography, writing, advertising, social networking, html, and so many other things. I have also made some connections with some very amazing people and organizations that I probably would have never had the opportunity to otherwise. </font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Freehand591 BT">For those of you who <em>are </em>bloggers, you know how consuming it can be. It takes time to come up with a creative idea, gather supplies, execute it, tweak it, get it <u>just right</u> and then take good photos, edit and upload photos and write about it in a clear concise way so that someone else can achieve the same results <em>while also</em> injecting your own dazzling personality . If you put out good, fresh content regularly, promote the posts at blog parties, in social media, and other websites, as well as support your fellow bloggers, stay competitive, and host your own link party (whew!), it can easily take ALL of your time. Sure, you can cut back on how often you post or how often you comment on other blogs, or how often you participate in linkies but it <strong>will</strong> affect your own page views. The blogging world is becoming crazy competitive and I must say <u>repetitive</u>. Don’t get me wrong, I have loved writing Krafty Kat but I have noticed that it doesn’t seem to matter how much time and effort I put into it, it seems to need <em><strong><u>more</u></strong></em>. It becomes hard to justify working so hard for something that doesn’t pay off financially for me. I have made a few bucks here and there and tried out some fantastic products but it is not enough. <em><u>For me.</u></em> And like I said, it can take ALL of your time. I love crafts and decorating but those aren’t my <strong>only</strong> interests. There are so many different aspects to my life. Being “krafty” is just <u>one</u> part of me. I need time for everything else too! </font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Freehand591 BT">I have developed some other creative interests that I plan on pursuing as well as a business idea that I want to work on. (I don’t want to reveal too much too soon). Of course, I will be bringing all of the skills I have gained from blogging with me! As this chapter is coming to an end, a new one is beginning and I am so excited to move forward and see what the future holds for me. I just know it is going to be great!</font></p> <p><font size="5"><font face="Freehand591 BT"><u>Thank you</u> for reading my posts, following me, subscribing, and letting me share a little of myself with you the past couple of years! Words cannot say how much your support has meant to me. I would never have reached this point in my life to be able to move ahead without you. </font></font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Freehand591 BT">Happy New Year to you and best wishes pursuing your own dreams and realizing your own destiny. If you never chase your dreams, you’ll never catch them!</font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Freehand591 BT">P.S. You can always find me on Pinterest and Tumblr!</font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Freehand591 BT"> </font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Freehand591 BT">Love,</font></p> <p><font size="5" face="Freehand591 BT">Kathie</font></p> Katherinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02270713294346692234noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2299115216907802547.post-73085718586837885652012-12-17T17:51:00.000-08:002012-12-17T17:51:44.607-08:00Gettin’ Krafty With It, Giveaway Winner, And My Christmas Tree (Whew!)<span style="font-family: Latha; font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">I </span>realize you haven’t heard much from me lately. They come in four delicious flavors: Dutch Apple with Caramel Sauce, Cherry Pie with Butter Fudge Sauce, Peach Pie with Cream Cheese Icing, and Pumpkin Pie with Cream Cheese Icing. </span><span style='font-family: Lucida Bright; font-size: medium;'>I love that they are made using <u>real </u>butter! It is AMAZING! You simply bake the pie in the oven for the correct time and then add the streusel topping and bake for 10-20 minutes more. Then you can add the caramel sauced! Mmmmmm. It was like having a caramel apple. The pie itself was probably more like the consistency of a cobbler because it was just <em>so full</em> of apples!</span></p> <br/> <div align='center'> <a href='http://lh4.ggpht.com/-0BL2H7zahDA/UMU3I_jb_5I/AAAAAAAAG-k/Toth8TYHY6w/s1600-h/Dutch%252520Apple%252520Pie%252520Slice%25255B3%25255D.jpg'><img width='577' title='Dutch Apple Pie Slice' style='border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;' src='http://lh5.ggpht.com/-vfFka313Lvs/UMU3JoD5AsI/AAAAAAAAG-s/bCL4WCl6b6g/Dutch%252520Apple%252520Pie%252520Slice_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800' height='510' border='0' alt='Dutch Apple Pie Slice'/></a></div> <p> <span style='font-family: Lucida Bright; font-size: medium;'>The pumpkin pie is delicious also. It was really thick and I loved the flavor although it did have a little more spice than what I usually use. The crust was flaky and buttery. The cream cheese icing is good but it was hard to taste because we also added whipped cream. These will look great on a mantel or side table and add a whimsical touch to your holiday decor. All you need is an inexpensive frame, some old Christmas cards, and some of the new holiday printed <span style="background-color: white; line-height: 22px;">Duck Tape®. </span></span><br /><div><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="line-height: 22px;"><br /></span></span><br /><div><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 22px;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Cover the frame in the duck tape. Be sure to press it down all over and remove any wrinkles or bubbles. You want to create a smooth, clean line. Trim away any excess, especially any adhesive if needed. Place a pretty card inside the frame. If it doesn't fit, use a piece of paper (or even Chrismas wrapping paper) as a matte behind the card. You can keep the card in place using a small piece of tape or a glue dot. That's it! Super cute <i>and</i> super easy! I used the penguin printed duck tape to line a frame that I had laying around. I placed an old card inside that also featured penguins with 3D elements. </span></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2M5IgsWP-Pc/UMCu4uYkvMI/AAAAAAAAG9c/GUWOnL3Od9c/s1600/Duck+Tape+Framed+Art.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2M5IgsWP-Pc/UMCu4uYkvMI/AAAAAAAAG9c/GUWOnL3Od9c/s640/Duck+Tape+Framed+Art.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 22px;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></span></div><div></div><div><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 22px;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">This is a great way to add a festive touch in unexpected places in your home- like the bedroom or bathroom. Place one in your children's bedroom or on a side table that may not usually get decorated for Christmas. Create a gallery wall of holiday art if you have a large collection of cards.</span></span></div><div><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 22px;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 22px;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;">Another wonderful quality of this craft is that it allows you to display and treasure cards from loved ones and you can reflect back on the memories of those special people every time you see it. I love anything sentimental, especially during the holidays. I must admit, I have saved every card ever given to me so I could make quite a collection of these! </span></span></div></div><div><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 22px;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-w3gUWUt6aKE/UMCu7cAM3bI/AAAAAAAAG9k/easpXFee_Gk/s1600/Duck+Tape+Holiday+Frame.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-w3gUWUt6aKE/UMCu7cAM3bI/AAAAAAAAG9k/easpXFee_Gk/s640/Duck+Tape+Holiday+Frame.JPG" width="480" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">I have another great Duck Tape project coming soon so stay tuned!</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">I will be sharing this with some of my favorite blogs:</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://www.theshabbycreekcottage.com/">Shabby Creek Cottage</a></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://www.aglimpseinsideblog.com/">A Glimpse Inside</a></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://tidymom.net/2012/cookie-baking-tips/">Tidy Mo</a>m</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://www.504main.com/">504Main</a></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://tatertotsandjello.com/2012/12/chest-r-desk-giveaway.html#more-46274"><span style="font-size: large;">Tatertots & Jello</span></a></div><div><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 22px;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: large;"><br /></span></span></div>Katherinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02270713294346692234noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2299115216907802547.post-31078012464688148342012-12-03T18:09:00.000-08:002012-12-03T18:09:22.655-08:00Gettin’ Krafty With It<span style="font-size: large;">It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! </span><br /><span style="font-size: large;">… <em>Except</em>, I don’t have a Christmas tree yet! I have pulled out all of the decorations, bought some new ones, came up with a whole new theme and can’t wait to get started…</span><br /><span style="font-size: large;">I wanted to get one right after Thanksgiving but we had birthdays going on as well and it was just too hectic. Then, we were going to get a tree this weekend and one of our children was not at home so we didn’t want to leave her out. We all go to the Christmas tree farm as a family and pick out the tree and cut it down. It’s our little tradition. The kids get candy canes and we listen to Christmas music all the way home with the tree on top of the car. </span><br /><span style="font-size: large;">So, <u>hopefully</u>, this week we will have our tree! It is better to wait anyway since we get a live tree and we want it to still be alive on Christmas! </span><br /><span style="font-size: large;">I am eager to see<em> your</em> Christmas trees though and other holiday (& non holiday) projects! </span><br /><span style="font-size: large;">Here are a few from last week:</span><br /><img height="411" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pp4kkB0Dm4o/ULEO8ObiCsI/AAAAAAAANas/Bofn_DDPuM0/s640/mint-dirt-pie-recipe.jpg" style="display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" width="528" /><br /><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://www.dianarambles.com/2012/11/mint-dirt-pie.html">Diana Rambles</a> made this mint dirt pie. I got that tip from <a href="http://www.savvyseasons.com/">Savvy Seasons</a>. I alternated green and gold ornaments around the wreath. These were just leftover ornaments that I won't be using on our Christmas tree. </span><br /><div align="center"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-TL_m9JBUFRw/ULlsBDRXbqI/AAAAAAAAGx0/J8jvkPSDo4Q/s1600-h/Remove%252520Hangers%252520from%252520Ornaments%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img alt="Remove Hangers from Ornaments" border="0" height="452" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-P39wn-t1Xao/ULlsCOT6saI/AAAAAAAAGx8/I-OUGXZNcvQ/Remove%252520Hangers%252520from%252520Ornaments_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="Remove Hangers from Ornaments" width="601" /></a> </span></div><span style="font-size: large;"> In the center I placed a golden reindeer I bought for 50% off at Rite Aid. I added the bling around his neck from a piece of an old homemade ornament. It is a piece of green tinsel with snowflakes with red stones in the middle. It fit him perfectly.</span><br /><div align="center"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-5tMvADOgTC4/ULlsDU-KTlI/AAAAAAAAGyE/wKU120yihR4/s1600-h/Christmas%252520Centerpiece%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img alt="Christmas Centerpiece" border="0" height="461" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-_0ZLDesPY_I/ULlsFdmPGTI/AAAAAAAAGyM/e7qv6Wa1Vow/Christmas%252520Centerpiece_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="Christmas Centerpiece" width="613" /></a> </span></div><span style="font-size: large;">You could easily recreate a similar centerpiece in your own color scheme and holiday style. I want to make sure that the ingredients we use on the items that my kids come into contact with everyday are safe. That includes what we wash our clothing with, our hands, our hair, and our bodies. Ideally, these items would be natural and gentle and free of harsh chemicals. Oh, yeah, and I’d like them to be affordable too. That’s why I am so excited about my recent opportunity to try some of the great items from The Honest Company. <br /><br /><iframe allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen" frameborder="0" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/rJBaP1FA0cU?feature=player_embedded" width="640"></iframe> <br /><div align="left"><a href="https://www.honest.com/free-trial?sid=10056&cid=swaydesign&mid=blog%E2%80%9D%20rel=%E2%80%9Dno%20follow%E2%80%9D%3EThe%20Honest%20Company%3C/a%3E">The Honest Company</a> offers cleaning and beauty products as well as baby items like diapers and wipes. The company was founded by Jessica Alba. You receive products in one month bundles that are delivered right to your door so it is a great time saver! Of course you can purchase individually or in 3 or 6 month supplies as well. In the Family Essentials Bundle, you would choose 5 products from a list of everything from bubble bath to dishwasher pods. They also have bundles for buying diapers and wipes. The designs on the diapers are really cute! Kinda makes me wish I still had a baby to wear them. OK, not really, but if I did, these would be the diapers I would choose. They are naturally biodegradable and plant based with no harmful chemicals of any kind. I think the only thing that would equal would be cotton cloth diapers. </div><div align="center"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-v3hIoP-XoZE/ULhL5niYY4I/AAAAAAAAGwE/Ei-hwGcURXQ/s1600-h/The%252520Honest%252520Company%252520Trial%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img alt="The Honest Company Trial" border="0" height="383" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-J9TGkj7EDJE/ULhL6_LmyGI/AAAAAAAAGwM/nqcW2UsjhyY/The%252520Honest%252520Company%252520Trial_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="The Honest Company Trial" width="583" /></a> </div><div align="left"> I was able to sample some of the personal products like the face and body lotion which felt really nice on my skin. It is a blend of organic olive oil, calendula, and organic aloe and fragrance free. My skin gets really dry and it was instantly soothed and softened. I also sampled the hand soap which had the clean scent of organic lemongrass as well as the shampoo & body wash which was also tear-free so it was very gentle and had an orange vanilla scent. The laundry detergent was the only household cleaner that I received but it worked well and was fragrance free and safe for using in front loading and/or HE machines. I received the healing balm which can be used on irritated skin such as diaper rash. It had a bit of a peculiar smell and felt a little greasy but would probably work well for protecting sensitive skin. My favorite product was the lotion and I am eager to check out more of their items. </div><div align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/--IJfQGkUbgA/ULhL7vyCwGI/AAAAAAAAGwU/Meba_efs5ug/s1600-h/Honest%252520Lotion%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img alt="Honest Lotion" border="0" height="442" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-_iKADcTvYow/ULhL8vFU1AI/AAAAAAAAGwc/mfj6sfMcO3k/Honest%252520Lotion_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="Honest Lotion" width="578" /></a> </div><br />The Honest Company was started by a mom and a dad who, like many modern parents, were increasingly worried about products made with questionable chemical ingredients. But the alternatives they found were often expensive, inaccessible, bland, or ineffective. In response to this clear need for something better, they created The Honest Company to ensure that parents (or anyone for that matter!) could easily find natural and non-toxic eco-friendly products that are beautiful, effective, and affordable. From customized product bundles to diapers and wipes to an ever-expanding line of cleaning and personal care products, you can find everything you need at Honest.com and have it delivered directly to your front door. <br />Give it a try! <strong><a href="https://www.honest.com/free-trial?sid=10056&cid=swaydesign&mid=blog">Click here to become a member of The Honest Company community and start your free trial today</a>.</strong> <br />This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Honest Company. It is a slim 7 foot tree and it had lights already on it (not the prelit kind) but some of them are not working. Someone must have gotten an upgrade but this one is perfect as a second tree for me. </span><br /><div align="center"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-o1lQ_VxfGc8/ULZWkhUfhwI/AAAAAAAAGtU/hBpsKFDyO54/s1600-h/Christmas%252520Tree%252520White%252520Decorations%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img alt="Christmas Tree White Decorations" border="0" height="558" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-KPFrVqWqomE/ULZWlWuCSgI/AAAAAAAAGtc/j6-MNdWfM2E/Christmas%252520Tree%252520White%252520Decorations_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="Christmas Tree White Decorations" width="420" /></a> </span></div><span style="font-size: large;"></span> <span style="font-size: large;">I put it up recently (ok, ok... honestly, I put it up a week before Thanksgiving!) and decided to decorate it all in white after making my </span><a href="http://kraftykat76.blogspot.com/2012/11/diy-faux-snowballs-book-page-christmas.html" style="font-size: x-large;">faux snowballs vignette</a><span style="font-size: large;"> which is in this same room. I used some large snowflake ornaments (from Dollar Tree) I had from last year along with some smaller ones I have had for years. I also placed a few white spray painted pine cones in the branches.</span><br /><div align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-Doqvkf0H_eg/ULZWmDetS9I/AAAAAAAAGtk/YqWq3eycIII/s1600-h/Christmas%252520Tree%252520White%252520Decorations5%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img alt="Christmas Tree White Decorations5" border="0" height="623" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-aUAG8HdDYv8/ULZWmrNBbEI/AAAAAAAAGts/wyyiMbwhB18/Christmas%252520Tree%252520White%252520Decorations5_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="Christmas Tree White Decorations5" width="468" /></a> </div><div align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-M6d6ZCD4_NQ/ULZWnloXQRI/AAAAAAAAGt0/SktUhcGL3zI/s1600-h/Christmas%252520Tree%252520White%252520Decorations6%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img alt="Christmas Tree White Decorations6" border="0" height="631" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-U7E6HZ1cx18/ULZWocZvtsI/AAAAAAAAGt8/VKuyKH0ebvw/Christmas%252520Tree%252520White%252520Decorations6_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="Christmas Tree White Decorations6" width="474" /></a> </div><div align="center"><span style="font-size: large;">Then, I decided to get some little white doves to look like they were flying all around the tree. However, this is not my main tree so most of my time/energy will be going into the live tree we will be getting in our living room. </span><br /><span style="font-size: large;">I have already decorated the room and gotten everything together in there. I have seen people use distilled water and glycerine, baby oil alone, etc. I have also read that people have used clear dish soap to replace the glycerine. I just used what I had on hand. I added some more epoxy glue to the ring around the jar lid and secured it on. Then, I added a cute little bow with a little jingle bell. I also placed this little piece of an old Christmas card with the greeting “Happy Holidays” on the top to add a little cheer.</span><br /><div align="center"><span style="font-size: large;"></span> <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-2f74Jtwg9Fs/ULV40eVyAJI/AAAAAAAAGr0/5PEoL-XUQsw/s1600-h/Snowman%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img alt="Snowman" border="0" height="618" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-Mq7w1TNh83E/ULV41qsD9mI/AAAAAAAAGr8/olw8YKGRakk/Snowman_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="Snowman" width="464" /></a> </div><span style="font-size: large;">I just love him! I’m </span><strong style="font-size: x-large;">one worn out woman</strong><span style="font-size: large;">!</span><br /><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><span style="font-size: large;"> I still managed to do some Christmas decorating and crafts (I’ll be showing you soon)! I also got to do a little shopping for myself because tomorrow (Tuesday) is <i>my birthday!</i> I don’t know how we ended up with 3 family member’s birthdays all in a row but it makes for one endless celebration at our house in November! </span><br /><br /><span style="font-size: large;">Anyway, with all of this going on, I have had very little time for blogging and visiting my favorites! I am missing you guys! So, let’s get down to it and let me show you some of the highlights from last week:</span><br /><br /><br /><div align="center"><img src="http://madeinadaydotcom.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/wispy-winter-wreath.jpg?w=563&h=748" /></div><div align="center"><br /></div><div align="center"><span style="font-size: large;">I love this <a href="http://madeinaday.com/2012/11/16/winter-wispy-wreath/">Winter Wispy Wreath</a> from Made In a Day. Cakes, pies, cookies, and all of the things that make these special times sweeter. If you want to be able to indulge in delicious desserts but still cut back on sugar, let me recommend Truvia® Baking Blend. Truvia® Baking Blend comes in pourable 1.5 pound bags and is a blend of Truvia and sugar. It gives you that genuine sugar taste and texture for all of your recipes but has 75% fewer calories and twice the amount of sweetness as sugar. One 1.5 lb. bag is the equivalent of a 3 lb. bag of sugar. </font></p> <p> <font size='5'>I want to share with you a recipe for making a delicious pumpkin pie using Truvia® Baking Blend. The pie still bakes up yummy with the same moist texture but this one has 2/3 less sugar than one using regular sugar. This can be your little secret! Try it and see if your family can tell the difference. They can enjoy a mouth-watering, home baked treat and you’ll know you’re helping them reduce their sugar intake! </font></p> <p> </p> <p> <img src='http://truvia.com/images/_baking/_recipes/MSLO_BB_PumpkinPie.jpg'/></p> <p> </p> <p> <font size='5'>Pumpkin Pie</font></p> <p> </p> <p> <font size='5'><u>Ingredients</u></font></p> <p> <font size='4'>Pastry shell for 9" pie<br/> 1 can (15 ounces) pumpkin<br/> 1 can (12 ounces) evaporated fat-free milk<br/> 3 eggs<br/>1⁄3 cup Truvia® Baking Blend<br/> 1 tsp vanilla<br/> 11⁄2 tsp pumpkin pie spice<br/>1⁄8 tsp salt</font></p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> <font size='5'><u>Instructions</u></font></p> <p> <font size='4'>1. Someone left not one, but two dollhouses at the recycling center where we take our trash and stuff. They were unfinished inside and needed a little repair here and there but they were almost identical and perfect for my two little girls. It was like it was meant to be that I find them there. </span><span style="font-size: large;">They have been playing with them “as is” for a while and I finally decided to do a little work on them. </span></span><br /><div align="center"><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-d9TYkCU7RXc/UKhNOmyIJ7I/AAAAAAAAGh4/XBGpfR3aVJY/s1600-h/Two%252520Dollhouses%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img alt="Two Dollhouses" border="0" height="457" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-bywRNXU1XIw/UKhNPSyiGlI/AAAAAAAAGiA/2_lnJCNZMQg/Two%252520Dollhouses_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="Two Dollhouses" width="579" /></a> </span></div><span style="font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, serif; font-size: large;">Today, I will be showing you the first part of the renovation of the blue house. They contain a limited number of ingredients, 10 grams of protein, and are <strong>gluten free</strong>! They come in three delicious flavors: Peanut Crunch, Cranberry Almond, and Toasted Coconut. </span><br /><span style="font-size: large;">These bars really do taste delicious. Right away, you notice that there is something different about them. Something that seem so much more <em>natural</em>. That’s because there are no preservatives, no added coloring, 0 grams trans fats, and low sodium. They are just made up of healthy, flavorful ingredients and nothing else! How perfectly simple! You can tell you are eating something that is good for you. That is a wonderful feeling. </span><br /><span style="font-size: large;">Listen to the list of ingredients on the back of the Cranberry Almond bars (my favorite flavor): soy protein, apple juice concentrate, sweetened dried cranberries (sugar, dried cranberries, sunflower oil), date paste, roasted almonds (almonds, high oleic sunflower oil), dried pomegranate seeds, cinnamon powder. How simple is that! No hidden surprises. Nothing scary. </span><br /><span style="font-size: large;">That one bar has 170 calories. I feel like that is a good amount for a snack that will fill you up. Fat calories are 35. There are no saturated or trans fats, no cholesterol. 23 grams of total carbohydrates and 19 grams of sugar. 2 grams of fiber. Although I wish the sugar and carbs were lower and the fiber was higher, those amounts are still pretty good in comparison to similar products. And most of them are FULL of all kinds of crap. </span><br /><span style="font-size: large;">The other flavors have similar nutritional values. </span><br /><span style="font-size: large;">If you are trying to live a healthier lifestyle and want a delicious, wholesome treat that you don’t have to feel guilty about enjoying, I think Perfectly Simple is a great choice. Plain and simple! </span>Katherinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02270713294346692234noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2299115216907802547.post-20178795464539365122012-11-12T18:29:00.000-08:002012-11-12T18:29:25.281-08:00Gettin’ Krafty With It<span style="font-size: large;"><u><i>Where has the last week gone? </i> </u></span><br /><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span><span style="font-size: large;">It has all been a blur since two of my girls and I have been sick with the flu. One of them had strep throat and the flu together. I couldn’t believe it was even possible! I am still feeling pretty rough but much better than before. I am still coughing and have a lot of chest congestion and dizziness but I can live with that. The kids are still coughing but feeling lots, lots better too! Thank God for Tamiflu! We spend way too much time focusing on all of the things that we think would make our life complete and sometimes forget just how fortunate we really are. If we have our families and our health, we are truly rich beyond measure. Here are five ways to express gratitude during the Thanksgiving season:</span><br /><br /><span style="font-family: Tahoma; font-size: large;">1. <a href="http://www.simplyvintagegirl.com/blog/index.php/2010/11/27/the-thankful-tree/">The Thankful Tree</a>: A tree with notes of thankfulness on each branch. This could be notes written only by you or by every member of the family. What a great feeling to read a note that someone is thankful for <i>you</i>!</span><br /><br /><img alt="The Thankful Tree" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5006/5213117410_789aba8b48_o.jpg" style="display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" /><br /><span style="font-size: large;">2. <a href="http://christyrobbins.blogspot.com/2010/11/thanksgiving-family-tradition-table.html">Thanksgiving Tablecloth</a>: This is such a sweet, sentimental way to cherish the memories of Thanksgivings over the years. Every year, everyone signs the tablecloth (just a king size white sheet) with colored permanent markers and then it is embroidered onto the tablecloth to be there forever. This family has been doing this for over 30 years. </span><br /><br /><img height="395" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_q9ZhvTw3eHw/TElAdM9xSmI/AAAAAAAAF7k/LiWE-4jLG_0/s320/Table+Cloth.JPG" style="display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" width="593" /><br /><br /><span style="font-size: large;">3. <a href="http://www.operationgratitude.com/">Operation Gratitude</a>: Send a soldier overseas a care package to show your gratitude and support for all they do. There is also a special deal going on with </span><a href="http://www.hickoryfarms.com/"><span style="font-size: large;">Hickory Farms</span></a><span style="font-size: large;"> for the holidays. </span><span style="font-size: large;">Plus, if you “Like” its page on <a href="https://www.facebook.com/hickoryfarms">Facebook</a> during the month of November, Hickory Farms will donate $.10 to Operation Gratitude (Max. donation $10,000 valid through 11/30/12). Please ask all your friends to “Like” the page too — those dimes will add up fast and make a huge difference for our Military!</span><br /><span style="font-size: large;"></span> <br /><div align="center"><img height="400" src="http://www.operationgratitude.com/wp-content/themes/op/includes/timthumb.php?src=http://www.operationgratitude.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/shannon.wilson@us.army_.mil_.jpg&w=315&h=220&zc=1" width="573" /></div><br /><span style="font-size: large;">4. Invite someone unexpected to spend Thanksgiving with you: While you are obsessing over your new napkin rings, there is probably someone you know who will be spending Thanksgiving alone. Maybe a coworker or a neighbor that has no family nearby. Invite them to spend Thanksgiving with you and make their holiday a little brighter while you realize their good company is yet another reason you have to be thankful. </span><br /><img height="363" src="http://www.punchbowl.com/gridfs/fs/4e95e37174f639139d000edb-1318445939" style="display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" width="545" /><br /><br /><span style="font-size: large;">5. <a href="http://www.theidearoom.net/2010/11/thankful-bucket.html">The Thankful Bucket</a>: Fill it up with all of the things you are thankful for. Then, after everyone has filled up, take turns reading aloud all of the reasons to be thankful. All of our buckets should be full! </span><br /><br /><div align="center"><img alt="Photobucket" src="http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll45/huntleygang/idearoom/thankbucket3.jpg" /></div><br /><span style="font-size: large;">There are so many ways we can express our gratitude- little acts of kindness towards others, thank you notes, baking goodies, handmade gifts, <i>our prayers</i>. How will you express your gratitude? Well, the ring is not actually a stain but mineral deposits from hard water. So, instead of trying to wipe it clean, it needs to be scraped off. There are two things I know from experience that can remove it. One is a pumice stone. The other method is using sandpaper. Yes, sandpaper! </span><br /><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HYEYxyYnXmI/UJGMM_YDEyI/AAAAAAAAGb4/GSOJhZspFE8/s1600/sandpaper.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><img border="0" height="279" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HYEYxyYnXmI/UJGMM_YDEyI/AAAAAAAAGb4/GSOJhZspFE8/s320/sandpaper.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"> I get a pack of assorted grit sandpaper from the dollar store and it works great. I love that it is disposable. I just toss the paper in the trash when I am done!</span><br /><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Make sure you are wearing gloves because you’ve got to get your hand inside the toilet bowl. Flush the toilet and while the water level is down, gently rub it on the ring and watch it disappear. Flush again and the ring is gone! Toss the sandpaper and you are <i>done</i>! <u>Amazing, right?</u> This method doesn’t scratch the toilet, it simply removes the buildup without any harsh chemicals. </span><br /><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NqslGvF5PTE/UJGMZ5fIo7I/AAAAAAAAGcA/9BSZ0KDqe4E/s1600/Remove+Ring+Around+Toilet+(After).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NqslGvF5PTE/UJGMZ5fIo7I/AAAAAAAAGcA/9BSZ0KDqe4E/s640/Remove+Ring+Around+Toilet+(After).jpg" width="480" /></span></a></div><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"> Now, you can move on to bigger and better things than scrubbing the toilet….like laundry! :)</span><br /><span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Linking Up:</span><br /><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><a href="http://somedaycrafts.blogspot.com/">Someday Crafts</a></span><br /><a href="http://www.houseofhepworths.com/2012/10/31/hookin-up-with-hoh-123/">House Of Hepworths</a><br /><a href="http://romantichome.blogspot.com/">My Romantic Home</a><br /><a href="http://www.theshabbycreekcottage.com/2012/10/transformation-thursday-no-176.html">Shabby Creek Cottage</a><br /><a href="http://www.atthepicketfence.com/">At The Picket Fence</a><br /><a href="http://www.504main.com/">504 Main</a><br /><a href="http://tidymom.net/2012/decorating-cookies-by-bridget-edwards/">Tidy Mom</a><br /><a href="http://www.blissfulanddomestic.com/search/label/Friday%20Link%20Party">Blissful & Domestic </a><br /><a href="http://www.craftjunkietoo.com/">Craft Junkie Too </a><br /><a href="http://www.littlebeckyhomecky.com/2012/11/fantabulous-friday-37/">Little Becky Homecky</a><br /><a href="http://too-much-time.com/">Too Much Time</a><br /><a href="http://tatertotsandjello.com/2012/11/weekend-wrap-up-party-and-clean-mama-printables-giveaway.html">Tatertots & Jello</a><br /><span style="font-family: Tahoma; font-size: large;"></span>Katherinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02270713294346692234noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2299115216907802547.post-22316653323661136512012-10-29T18:07:00.000-07:002012-10-29T18:07:48.916-07:00Gettin’ Krafty With It {Halloween Eve Edition}<b><span style="font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></b><br /><div align="center"><span style="font-size: x-large;"><b> <span style="font-family: Imprint MT Shadow;">Happy Halloween! </span></b></span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-size: x-large;"><br /></span></div><img height="468" src="http://catsnco.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/black-cat-on-pumpkin.jpg" style="display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" width="824" /><br /><span style="font-size: x-large;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: Tahoma; font-size: x-large;">I hope however you celebrate (or not), you will have a frightfully good time! As pretty as they are, we drive by them every day and , after a while, take the beauty of them for granted. We forget that there are many people who have never even seen a cotton field or given a thought that the material their t-shirt is made from came from a plant.
