Chocolate Bunny Tutorial

IMG_1403
I just couldn’t resist getting started on an Easter project- it’s my FAVORITE holiday!  I’ll show you how I made them.
I first found a great bunny template from Sandy’s Creations.

Easter Bunny Template
I printed it out and cut it out then traced my bunny shape onto a canvas dropcloth I had leftover from this teepee project.  I cut out my canvas bunnies.

Then, I paired up two bunny shapes and sewed around one side with a blanket stitch (by hand, obviously).

I stuffed the inside and then closed it up.

After all three bunnies were sewed and stuffed, I painted them brown with acrylic paint.

Doesn’t that look just like milk chocolate?

I painted two coats on each side.

When the paint was dry, I sprayed them with a gloss acrylic sealer to give them just a bit of shine. Then, I hot glued little bows on.

Aren’t they cute?  I LOVE.LOVE. LOVE. them!
Here they are on display in a little basket.  I also added some plastic eggs leftover from last year with some Easter grass to my dollar store hurricanes.

Yes, I know it’s not even St. Patrick’s Day yet.  No, I do not care.

What I would do differently next time:  I would probably use a softer material like muslin.  I tend to be a bit impulsive when it comes to crafting and didn’t really think about how stiff the canvas would be.  Also, I would make them more like a pillow and turn them inside out before stitching so the edges would be nice and smooth.

Now, I’m so excited to do more Easter projects I just about can’t stand it!
