Faux Chocolate Egg Tree

IMG_1513
After making faux chocolate bunnies, I couldn’t stop there.  I had to make a faux chocolate egg tree.

I used smaller sized plastic eggs.  I painted them brown and cream.  I did about three layers of paint.

Once I was on the second coat, I realized it might have been a little easier to use spray paint.  Oh, well!  They must have looked pretty real, one of my kids tried to eat one!

After the paint was dry, I sprayed some clear gloss sealer to give them a nice shine.  Once that was dry, I drizzled some white and black fabric paint over some of the eggs to give them a truffle look.

Then, I started hot glueing them to a cone form.  I tried to space out the colors randomly.  In between the spaces, I hot glued moss.

I covered the entire cone.

I placed the tree on top of a candle holder.

I love how it turned out!

  10. So great! I know my step sons would try and it eat them. I learned to put signs up telling them what it is because they thought salt dough ornaments were cookies. Right now on their teenage minds is chocolate and girls. Ugggh.
