Gettin’ Krafty With It, Giveaway Winner, And My Christmas Tree (Whew!)

I realize you haven’t heard much from me lately.  This time of the year always gets really busy.  The kids had their last week of school and are out for Christmas vacation.  There has been something different going on everyday! I have enjoyed watching them perform, going to Christmas parties, shopping, and just being able to see them more.  Given the tragedy in Newtown, CT, I have no regrets. There is nothing worth more to me than them.

I do need to make an announcement!  Kyra of Racks & Mooby, you are the winner of the Mrs. Smith’s giveaway!  You will receive a coupon for a free Mrs. Smith’s Signature Deep Dish Pie and a $50 Williams-Sonoma Gift Card!  Please email me with your mailing address and I will get this right out to you!  Congratulations!!!!

Finally, I want to show you my Christmas tree!
Red Roses Christmas Tree

Isn’t it pretty?

 Tree With Lights
I decided to decorate in a red and apple green color scheme. The theme was red roses.  I came up with the idea after scoring these little rose clusters for 25 cents each at Walmart!  I got a ton of them.

Then, I just had to dress it up with lots of red and green deco mesh.

I am in love with that stuff, it is so fluffy!  I used lots of red and green ornaments and a few glittery picks here and there.  I also added a few gold bells, violins, etc.

For my doorway, I made a lighted garland.

I used red deco mesh and gold ribbon and placed a glittery ball of mistletoe in the center.

I guess you could say my decorations are romantic, but hopefully not too much!  I do have three guys here!  The tree itself is huge, especially for my small living room!  I wouldn’t have it any smaller though!

Gettin’ Krafty With It

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Except, I don’t have a Christmas tree yet!  I have pulled out all of the decorations, bought some new ones, came up with a whole new theme and can’t wait to get started…
I wanted to get one right after Thanksgiving but we had birthdays going on as well and it was just too hectic. Then, we were going to get a tree this weekend and one of our children was not at home so we didn’t want to leave her out.  We all go to the Christmas tree farm as a family and pick out the tree and cut it down.  It’s our little tradition.  The kids get candy canes and we listen to Christmas music all the way home with the tree on top of the car.
So, hopefully, this week we will have our tree!  It is better to wait anyway since we get a live tree and we want it to still be alive on Christmas!
I am eager to see your Christmas trees though and other holiday (& non holiday) projects!
Here are a few from last week:

Diana Rambles made this mint dirt pie. Mint and chocolate are so good together and perfect for a holiday treat!

Dry Shampoo recipe (beautytips4her)

Beauty Tips 4 Her shared this recipe for dry shampoo spray.  This will come in so handy in between washings, especially during this busy season!

Howling Liz embroidered this adorable Russian nesting doll or matryoshka as a gift for a friend.  I know she will be very happy to receive it.

Kaminski’s Creations made this Christmas Card Holder.  What a stylish display!
Paperseedlings demonstrated her technique for faux cloisonné ornaments on Christmas cards.  I can’t wait to try this myself!

Shades of Safhire -Stained Glass Crocheted Scarf
Shades Of Safhire shared this beautiful stained glass style scarf. I really like this pattern.

Gettin’ Krafty With It

I hope you all had a very Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving, followed by crazy Black Friday shopping, six teenage boys overnight for my son’s birthday, then more shopping and partying for my stepdaughter’s birthday.  I’m one worn out woman!

I still managed to do some Christmas decorating and crafts (I’ll be showing you soon)!  I also got to do a little shopping for myself because tomorrow (Tuesday) is my birthday!  I don’t know how we ended up with 3 family member’s birthdays all in a row but it makes for one endless celebration at our house in November!

Anyway, with all of this going on, I have had very little time for blogging and visiting my favorites!  I am missing you guys!  So, let’s get down to it and let me show you some of the highlights from last week:

I love this Winter Wispy Wreath from Made In a Day.  The little cardinals are so adorable and I like that you can use this wreath all winter long, not just at Christmastime.

Aimee from Twigg Studios never ceases to amaze me.  This time she has created these little Winter Wonderland Baubles.  I think I need about fifty of these.

One of the best things about cooler weather is getting to enjoy a big bowl of yummy soup!  There is nothing like a good, hearty soup to warm me down to my bones and this Spicy Sausage & Barley Soup from If I Had A Million Hours looks like just the ticket!

shower-curtain-ring-Christmas-tree

Thrifty Rebel made this beautiful tree.  What is even more amazing is what she used to make it:  shower curtain rings!  Isn’t she clever?

I think this Burlap Candy Cane Wreath from Life On Lakeshore Drive is gorgeous!  I love the ruffled stripes and the candy cane shape adds the element of the unexpected to the door!

Gettin’ Krafty With It

Busy, busy, busy!  Are you as busy as me?  It seems like time speeds up the closer it gets to the end of the year!  Maybe it is just me but there is never enough.  So, I apologize for not commenting on every link from last week’s party!  I have just been so busy!  Here are a few posts that jumped out at me though:

Liz Marie’s amazing deer head mounted on pallet wood.  It is just so striking and beautiful.  What a great idea, especially at this time of the year!

Creative Chaos made this lovely DIY Peter Pan Collar and even though her daughter thought it was “embarrassing”, she looks beautiful modeling it, doesn’t she?

Twigg Studios made these amazing acorns using drop cloths and leaves! Such a creative way to add charm to her fall decor.

Half Baked Harvest shared several drool-worthy recipes, including this one for Pecan Pie Brownies.

Simply Creating Home made this absolutely stunning fall wreath with acorns collected from her grandparents home.  What could be more special?

Gettin’ Krafty With It

Where has the last week gone?

It has all been a blur since two of my girls and I have been sick with the flu.  One of them had strep throat and the flu together.  I couldn’t believe it was even possible!  I am still feeling pretty rough but much better than before. I am still coughing and have a lot of chest congestion and dizziness but I can live with that.  The kids are still coughing but feeling lots, lots better too!  Thank God for Tamiflu! This weekend, my other daughter started getting sick and I gave her Tamiflu right away and she was feeling better the next day.  Next year, we will definitely be getting flu shots early!

Hopefully this past week has been better for all of you and you’ve been more productive than I have!  I can’t wait to see what you’ve been doing but first let me show you a few of the highlights from last week’s party:

Sew Much Ado shared her SIL’s home with us and it was such an inspiring and stylish space all throughout!

Sweet Pepper Rose made this orange acorn wreath for fall as well as some gorgeous acorn ornaments.

Glued To My Crafts shared a fun Under The Sea snack that is healthy too!

Diana Rambles shared her recipe for Pumpkin Caramel Chili!  She presented it inside a pumpkin- how fun!

My Party Passions created these cute Mayflower Treat Ship Place Cards for the kids’ table this Thanksgiving!
