FROM THE DUMP.
Yep. Not only did I rescue this chair from the dump, but I planned it out.
You see, I happened to ride by (this is in the next little town over- not even my local dump) and saw it sticking out of the top of the dumpster. I heard it calling out to me in a weak little voice, “please…help” What would you do? I had no choice. I knew I had to save it but the place was closed until the next day.
So, I got up the next morning and headed over there. I was on a mission to save that poor little chair. It was in a big dumpster full of scrap metal stuff to be recycled. I had my trash with me and pretended that I just always brought my trash here. I asked the attendant about the chair. At first, he seemed resistant. I told him about my plan to save the little chair and give it a new, happy home. He finally told me to pull my vehicle around to the bin the chair was in. We acted all casual as other cars passed by. Then, when the coast was clear, he pulled her from the bin and loaded her into the back of my Honda Pilot. He told me that I could not tell anyone because he was not supposed to do that. I assured him that I wouldn’t as I drove away. Of course, I had to tell you! But, that’s okay because I know you will not tell. You wouldn’t want anything to happen to my little chair!
This is what I pictured when I saw this chair.
It just reminded me of an old ice cream parlor. And I thought, how cute would that be in my little girl’s room at her little desk. It would go great with her cupcake wall art! I could do her room in a sweets theme. It would be PERFECT!
However, it will take some work. See this cushion.
Look under here, there is a screw missing there.
There is supposed to be a bar down here to keep it more stable.
It needs to be repainted.
But, what do you think? Any ideas? Am I totally crazy? (Wait, don’t answer that one!)
Come check out all of the fabulous places I am linking to.
I love the idea of a sweets theme!
ReplyDeleteI think a fun fabric is needed and a fresh coat of paint. What a find!
ReplyDeleteI would have rescued that little chair in a heartbeat. It's adorable! A coat of paint and fun fabric and it will be brand new :).
ReplyDeleteFun story. Go for it! Sounds great for your daughter's room!

Cute chair! Yes it needed rescued and nope, don't think you are crazy. Fun post. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your chair...it is just precious and would be perfect in a little girls room!
ReplyDeleteYour not alone in your rescue mission...I would have done the same thing and have rescued a thing or two in the past myself. : )
Great post!
Cute chair. Can't wait to see what you do with it. ~~Sherry~~
ReplyDeleteHow could you not have rescued it. How could anyone be so heartless as to dump it? So perfect for a little girls room. I'm all for refuse rescuing, especially when it has as much potential as this darling piece.
ReplyDeleteCheers,

I absolutely agree with your chair rescue! It is too cute and in too good of shape to be left in the dump. I would have done the SAME thing (I have in the past by the way). I hope it looks as good as you want it to when you are done with it.
ReplyDeleteI totally would have done the same thing. I can't believe someone would just throw that chair away.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see how it looks when you are done with it.
Be sure to check out my blog I am having a big giveaway.

This chair is probably thanking it's lucky stars that you rescued it!
ReplyDeleteThat was a funny post and NO I do not think you're crazy! I've taken many things out of our dumpster, I do get a bit embarrassed on my way back to my apartment with it but everyone around here does it. That's an adorable chair and I'm sure it's very happy that you saved it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great rescue ~ too cute!
