Redecorating With Old Picture Frames

IMG_0794

I must say if you want to add a little something to your decor and you have some old frames and a printer, you’re set!  Frames are so easy to change.  You can paint them, stain them, cover them in whatever you like- paper, fabric, beads, twine, ribbon, etc. and you have a whole new look!

Case in point is this babyish little frame with ducks all over it.  I was given this when my daughter was born and stuck it in her room and it has sat there all this time. Now she’s six years old and as much as I hate to admit it, not a baby anymore.  If you are wondering about that mark on the front, there was a little wooden duck that I had to pull of to do this project and just didn’t get a picture of it.  Trust me, you’re not missing anything.

So, I searched online and came up with the image I wanted.  You may recall that I have a “Sweets” theme in mind for her room hence the ice cream cones.  I printed it out and just held it up and folded it where I wanted to trim away the excess.  I cut off what I didn’t need and cut out my circle where the picture is supposed to go.  Glued it down with Elmer’s School Glue and carefully folded it over on the sides, just like wrapping a present.

When it was dry, I went over the ice cream cones with some Elmer’s Shimmer ‘N Shine to give it a little sparkle.  Six year old girls love sparkle.

When that was dry I sprayed it down with some acrylic sealer.  I put my picture back in when that dried and now she has a new frame that will actually go with the rest of her room.

Here is another couple of frames that were okay as is but I just brushed a little glitter across them to kick them up a notch.  I printed out some pictures of some cute cupcakes and now she has a few more little “sweet” accents.

I know I have said this before but it is worth repeating!  Drag out those old frames and make them new again!
