Cheap Fast Costume-Black & White Cat

OK, I know I am not the only one who has waited until the last minute to get my kids' Halloween costume, right?... Right?  Well, just in case I am not alone-here is a quick, easy idea for a girl's costume.  My daughter wanted to be a black and white cat for Halloween.  I thought, OK-no problem.  I saw some cute ones online for @ $30 but decided I'll find something in the store.  Well, after checking every store around, no one had black & white cats-plenty of leopard prints, etc.  but not what she wanted.  So, I had to improvise & do it cheap ( I still have 3 other kids to dress up too!).

So this is what I came up with.  I started with an old black knit shirt & pants.  Ok, but she wants to be black & white-how am I gonna do it?  Well, I looked at some white fur material but it was really expensive-not gonna work.  White felt would be ok but I wanted fur, man!  Cats are furry!  So, I went to Dollar Tree.  They have lots of Christmas stuff out now.  Like these Santa hats & stockings with white furry trim-purrfect!   I also got a black boa from Dollar General & a cat ears headband from KMart.
I ripped the fur off of those Santa hats  & cut it to the size I needed & hot glued it to my shirt and pants.   I glued 1/2 the boa on for the tail. I even used the puffballs from the hat -one for the collar and one for the tip of the cat's tail.

Then, I used the fur from the stocking to make a white furry tummy.  Fast & easy & total cost was $7.  I think it's the cat's meow!
