A Few More Christmas Touches

Just wanted to share with you a few other little touches I've added around here lately.  There is still a lot to do but it's getting there!

After making the evergreen centerpiece for my living room, I knew I needed one for my dining room table as well.  My Christmas tablecloth has poinsettias and gold swirls so I spray painted an old metal container gold and put some red glittery poinsettias from Dollar Tree inside.  I added a satin tulle ribbon and Boom, I'm done.  It matches, it's festive, it's cheap, and it's glittery!  Works for me!

Next, I wanted something to go with my icy wreath because most of my decor is classic red and green so I headed outside and found some branches from the pecan tree.  I spray painted them white and added a little glitter because everything is better with glitter!  I spray painted  sweetgum balls silver that were left over from my fall decor and put them in a vase then added the branches.  I tied on a wire ribbon to match the one on the wreath and now I have a little wintry icy scene.  I added a spraypainted white Dollar Tree bird.  He may or may not stay.  I tend to change things up as I go until I get it just right.

Above my kitchen sink I put some old gingerbread men ornaments that have been around forever in the window and made a cute Hot Cocoa sign and put it in a frame.  Didn't even bother to put any glass in the frame.

Next to the sink I hung this Christmas subway art I found here in a red frame.

On the other wall above the microwave, I hung my peppermint wreath

Then, on top of the microwave I put a kitchen dishtowel, a hot chocolate mug I found at the thrift store a while back and my lucky number 7 tray (Again, from the Dollar Tree).

The little gingerbread man I made last night.  I got the idea from The Tattered Tag.  She made the cutest little burlap cookie ornaments and I thought it would make a great craft to do with the kids.  I used foam board instead of cardboard because it was what I had available but we had a great time doing them.  They put theirs on the tree but I wanted mine to go here.  I just glued on the fabric and little rick rack and buttons and tied on the yarn.  I love him!!  It is a good thing he is not real though, because I would just eat him up!

Oh, I almost forgot- I went to Hallmark yesterday and got this glittery mistletoe kissing ball!  I had a $10 coupon and this little pretty was marked $15 so I got it for 5 bucks and some change!  Now, I better get lots of sugar!

So, that's about all I've done so far.  We have a  party tomorrow night which involves singing lots of Christmas carols so we've got to cram tonight with the kids and make sure they know all the words to these songs!  Then,  shopping on Saturday at the Mall of Georgia.  Maybe I will eventually have time to get everything done before Christmas Eve gets here!

Getting ready for Christmas is hard work!
