A Little Fall Fluffing

Well, I managed to get all of my Halloween stuff down and now I can focus on Thanksgiving.  I've been cleaning, doing laundry, put some beef stew in the crockpot, and just started a little fall fluffing.  Just making everything a little more homey,  with touches of fall and Thanksgiving mixed in.  Not too much, just a little.

This is truly my favorite time of the year.  I love the weather, the changing leaves, & all of the food that goes along with Thanksgiving.  Every year,  2 of our children and I take turns sharing our birthday with Thanksgiving Day. (Our birthdays are on 11/25, 11/26, & 11/27).  It is my oldest son's turn this year.  We don't mind though because it is always a great day spent with family and of course, the food!

So here is my entryway table.  I dressed the table in some burlap I got from Salvation Army a while back.

I printed out this little 'Be Thankful' print & put it in an old frame I have had for like a zillion years.

There's a Dollar Tree bird, spraypainted white.  My pumpkins look like they have taken a beating.  My kids just won't leave them alone!  Dollar Tree hurricanes filled with fall leaves (also from Dollar Tree).

This is a photo of my grandma's hands not long before she passed away earlier this year.  My aunt gave it to me at Mother's Day.  On the back she had written, "Whenever you don't think you can, Look at the hands".  I love that !  I am so thankful that I was able to have her in my life for so many years.

These are some little sugar bead covered pumpkins that were at Walmart for $1 each.

Notice my old radio.  That's another Salvation Army find.  It doesn't really work & is in need of a lot of repair but I don't really care-I love it because it's old fashioned & worn.  A feather-looks like a turkey feather to me but I may be wrong.

Speaking of turkeys check out these guys I saw while driving the other day.  Isn't that amazing!  I must've scared them though because they all started scattering.

Anyway, back to the fall stuff-this is my fall wreath.  I bought it last year at Fred's (small discount store here).  I still love it.

This is how my china cabinet looks right now.  See those dishes in there-they are actually paper plates from Dollar Tree (shhhhh!).  I plan to add a little more soon.

This is a Thanksgiving sign I made last night.

It actually started out as a Halloween decoration from Dollar Tree.

I just turned it over & painted it with a crackling technique using glue.  Basically, you paint one color in one direction (up & down).  When it dries, you paint on glue.  Then, when the glue dries, you paint another color in the opposite direction (across).  When it dries, it crackles.  Then I mod podged my turkey picture onto it & added some ribbon.  I love how it turned out.  Can't wait to try that crackling on some more things.

This is my fall word cloud I made on wordle above my microwave.  I just wrote 'Give Thanks' on my thrift store redo chalk board.

Well, that's all of the fluffing (& rambling) I've got to share with you today.  I still need to do something to my mantel.  I don't know why but I always get stumped on the mantel.  Like there is so much pressure because it is over the fireplace & somehow what goes there is so much more important.  This is the craziness inside my head.

Best wishes  & enjoy decorating for fall!

  16. Your fall decorations are terrific! I've been so busy this year that I haven't been decorating seasonally inside. I'm letting the outside "natural" decorations speak for themselves. ;)

Thanks for linking to my party. I look forward to seeing what you link up each week. I'll be spotlighting you tonight in my showcase.

Also just joined you as a follower.
