My Funky Breadbox

Funky Junk Interiors hosted a What is it? Junk Link Party a few days ago and I didn’t join in because I thought that I didn’t have anything that would qualify.  Everything I have is easy to tell just what it is when you look at it.  Then, today, as I was in the kitchen I realized I had just the thing!

I bought this at a thrift store about a year ago.  It is actually an old plastic sewing chest from the 70s.  It was a funky avocado green color until I spraypainted it heirloom white and distressed it a little.  It once had a handle on top but now it’s missing.  I love the scrollwork on the sides and top and the shape of it.

Now it is my breadbox.  See, if you look inside,  you can still see the green!

  5. Oh my gosh does that bring back memories! My mother had (still has, I believe), the same one! It had this little divided shelf like drawer with a handle that sat down in it too. I love the way you've repurposed it and given it a new life. Brilliant!

  9. What a great idea. My mom had one of these but it was brown. Don't know what happened to it but it sure made a great breadbox.
